Demolition: Buildings Within Buffer Zone Get Ultimatum
By CLIFFORD AGBAJOR BENIN CITY- Owners of buildings, structure or fence within the buffer zone of the Benin walls and moats have been given 10 (ten) day notice to remove such.
In a statement signed by the chairman, Edo State Committee / Tax force on Environmental Beautification and illegal structures, the affected property contravened the Antiquities / monuments Declaration Notice (LN 79 of 1961 and Decree 77 of 1979) and the Edo State (Declaration and preservation of antiquities Law 2001.
Affected persons are advised to comply within the stipulated period or be compelled to bear the cost of such demolition if carried out by the government.
