Maintain peace, Benin Monarch appeals to politicians
By MATTHEW OKAGHA BENIN CITY- Ahead of the Saturday, January 23, 2010 re-run election in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, the Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa has made a passionate plea to the politicians in the state to maintain peace and order before, during and after the polls.
The Benin Monarch also appealed to the Federal Government to restore the Joint Task Force after the re-run election scheduled to hold tomorrow, January 23, 2010.
The Omo N’Oba’s plea was contained in a press release signed by Frank Irabor, Secretary, Benin Traditional Council a copy of which was made available to The NIGERIAN OBSERVER in Benin City yesterday.
In the statement, the Benin Monarch stated that the election should not be seen to be a do-or-die affairs” and urged politicians to always have the security of life and property at heart.
His Royal Majesty also used the medium to pray to God and the Ancestors to assist the law enforcement agents in their assignments.
